The Decline
Of all the victories won and the battles won by the Mongols, there came a time in Khan's career as a leader where the army started to fall from its undefeated cloud of victories. The start of the decline from ultimate power was at the Battle of Ain Jalut in 1260. This officially ended the rain of 60 years of being undefeated. This battle took place in modern day Isreal against the Eygptian Muslims known as the Mamluks. As of the last 20 years after this battle, the Mongols lost lots of battles since then. These were caused by various attempts to ambush or invade Vietnam and Japan.
During this time of power, Khan to resign from is his role in society. He would then continue the dynasty by dividing the power among his four sons. The relationship between the children were not great meaning they fought a lot, therefore when Khan foresaw this, he divided the empire into equal parts to be ruled by his children. This was in hopes that his children would continue the philosohies and strategies that their father created in order to maintain peace among the people of this empire.
